In Hypselodoris nigrostriata
The gills are triangular in cross-section which means there are three edges to each gill, one on the inside (a) and two on the outside (b), each with a bright orange line
The three edges of each gill are bright orange, the two lamellate sides are white and the smooth outer side is whitish orange.

In Chromodoris annulata
The gills are quadrangular in cross-section which means there are four edges to each gill, two on the inside (a) and two on the outside (b), each with a deep purple line
The inner (c) and outer face (d) of the each gill, is without gill leaflets
The two "lateral" face (e) have gill leaflets |
