Species characteristics :

The brownish granular surface of the body is composed of a dense covering of caryophyllidia

The general texture of the animal is leathery, and the whole dorsal surface is covered with a distinctly raised but somewhat irregular reticulate pattern.

Opaque white pigment is present on the notum especially on the elevated , rounded tubercles

Bibliographic data :

S. coriacea has a greenish grey ventral surface with a network of yellow, and the margin is dirty yellow.  The sole of the foot is yellow brown to light orange.   
    The rhinophore-openings have somewhat raised and indistinctly crenulate edges
    The branchial pocket is wide, conspicuous, and somewhat two-lipped in shape. The edge is turned outwards and is not at all crenulate. The branchia are six and tripinnate.
    Found on the tide pools at night and on shallow reef flat
    Lay a bright orange egg ribbon
