Species characteristics :

The body is translucent white with opaque white spots and thin short interrupted vivid vermillon lines arranged longitudinally

The rhinophores are slender each has 3 to 5 white annuli on the upper half and the tip is rounded

Cerata black to dark brown basally with lighter pigment and opaque white longitudinal lines (abscent in western Indian Ocean)

    Specimen from the western indian with orange lines rather than spots lacking opaque white lines on the cerata
    Synonymous : (according Worms)
               - Aeolidia bourailli Risbec, 1928
               - Facelina bourailli (Risbec, 1928)

Bibliographic data :

Body shape typical for genus, elongate and farly high, with a prominent pericardial hump.
    The cerata are short and arranged in orderly clusters, or groups of rows.
    The rhinophores are watery orange occasionally with white speckles
    The oracle tentacle are translucent white with white spots and/or bands and sometimes with a faint orange ring.
    On the head there are also orange streaks and spots, in some cases forming a pair of broken orange lines from the front of the head to the base of the rhinophores. Similar orange marks appear on the dorsum between the cerata and on the sides of the body.
    The digestive gland duct and contents is usually a light brown colour.
    Feeds on hydroids including Salacia tetracythara and Thyroscyphus fruticosus
