Frequently on the mantle, the black dots are on the center of the white patches
In smaller specimen only one or two orange notches are present along the edge of the parapodia.
Sometimes the rhinophore have a pale yellow coloration like the notches along the edge of the parapodia
Like Elysia marginata this species has numerous black and white dots all over the body, but Elysia nigropunctata hasn't a black parapodial margin and a submarginal yellow or orange band.
