Remarks :
Many species with black lines and an orange border are loosely grouped into the Chromodoris quadricolor colour group (Rudman, 1982) such as Chromodoris africana, C. annae, C. colemani, C. elisabethina, C. hamiltoni, C. kuiteri, C. magnifica, C. michaeli, C. quadricolor, C strigata, Hypselodoris regina ... and many Chromodoris sp...
Some of them are described from Indian Ocean : C. africana, C. annae, C. elisabethina, C. hamiltoni, C. quadricolor, C. strigata, Hypselodoris regina and many Chromodoris sp...
All the specimen present in this page belong to this reduced group : C. elisabethina, C. hamiltoni, C. quadricolor or C. sp but it's difficult to conclude

Mayotte, ilot d'Hajangoua, 10 m, 13 February 2012, size : 30 mm
Pattern 1 caracterized by :
- Large black lines on the dorsum
- Large white line between the margin and the black lines
According N. Yonow " looks like C. hamiltoni but too much white along the orange margin... but probably a variant of C. hamiltoni

Pattern 2 caracterized by :
- Coalescent black lines on the dorsum
- Small white line between the margin and the black area
According N. Yonow " No idea...but Rudman considered that their are black variant of C. hamiltoni"

Mayotte, Nurserie, 10 m, 3 December 2008, size : 25 mm
Pattern 3 caracterized by :
- A pink salmon margin
- But also a large internal white margin...
According N. Yonow "With the pink salmon border it could be a variant of C. hamiltoni"
According Bill Rudman "
It looks like C. elisabethina, C. hamiltoni and C. quadricolor but the wide white band separating the orange border from the inner black line is unusual. At present I have been calling some of these puzzling forms Chromodoris cf. africana but only as a stop-gap measure until we can make better sense of them. One problem is that in most of these species, juveniles can have quite a wide white band as in your animal"
